I don’t yet know whether we’ll be watching the original or one of Lucas’s bastardized remixes, but I’ll shortly be entertained by the local symphony playing Williams’s score for A New Hope during the movie.

Are you near the birthday... aging gentleman and if so is he playing?

I would be extremely surprised if you got to see the original theatrical release since Lucas pretends that it doesn’t exist anymore, but you still get to see Star Wars which isn’t a bad way to spend an evening.

I have no idea what you’re asking.

My desperate hope is that Disney will rescue it.

As do all of us. It wasn’t as bad in the latter two movies but in the original the changes are terrible .

Replacing Anakin in RotJ is the second most egregious change. Makes the ending incomprehensible to anyone wise enough to stay away from the prequels.

How many professional musicians that work in an orchestra in TX are on oppo? I will take this as a resounding no (sorry for the butchery) ttyymmyynn(???) is not playing at this live movie event.

Ah, I didn’t know he was a professional musician. I’m in Indiana so it seems unlikely.

Not sure why I thought you were in TX. Upon reflection I believe the real bicycle buck is who I was thinking of. Carry on.
PS I added an extra “yy” in there but otherwise did fine.

Austin Symphony did that last year. It was a blast to play. And it’s the latest version with all of Lucas’s pointless additions. But the music is the same, note for note (or just about).

Mixed anticipation then. Glad you enjoyed it.

I thought all holiday season musical events in Indiana involved Straight, No Chaser.

I’ve never even heard of them. Will have to try to catch them live sometime.

Hopefully Disney understands that if they were to sell the original, unadulterated versions of all the original films SW nerds would buy every DVD they produce.

No, I’m playing Otello tonight, a grand opera by Giuseppe Verdi. I have, however, played that very same Star Wars show . We did it last year. It was an absolute blast, both literally and figuratively. I was particularly excited to play the final battle scene. When I was a kid, my dad bought be the soundtrack on two LPs and I played that part over and over and over again. To finally get to perform it was a career highlight.

If you can’t overlook the additions just to enjoy Star Wars and the brilliant score, then why are you even there?

Amazingly enough I can experience multiple emotions simultaneously.
